Our first day on Ocracoke was kinda chilly, windy, and dark. So we hung out in town for the morning shopping and riding our bikes hoping it would clear up a bit. We did go out to the beach in the afternoon. It was kinda funny. It reminded me of pictures we had of going to the beach in Delaware with friends when we were kids. Our parents were all bundled up in sweatshirts and towels trying to make the most of it. The highlight of that day for me was the kite. Nothing better than a kite on a windy day at the beach!

Vacation!!
Time to start telling you all about my recent vacation I took with my sisters! It was great to have the time away for a bit. I drove down to Julie's on Saturday through the beautiful mountains in West Virgina. People can make fun of it all they want, I think it is an amazing state. I have never had such a beautiful drive. The trees were all amazing colors and I have always loved mountains. Spent the night with Julie and then left Sunday morning for Lori's. I met up with her and her dog and we drove down to Ocracoke. You have to take a ferry to get there. Here is a picture from the ferry with some of the houses on Hatteras in the background.
And here is a picture of Lori and Bailey in the car on the way over.
Lori and I took some time getting the lay of the island. The bar across the street from our Villa made us feel right at home!
We took about a million pictures at the beach, so I'll save those for a different post. Got to drag this out as long as possible!

Anticipation!
So, half the fun of a vacation (ok, maybe not half, but at least a quarter!) is the anticipation. I love checking out websites and planning and packing for the trip. I know that makes me wierd to most people, and anoying to some, but I love it! So, since I don't have any fun pictures this week. Here are some websites so you can see what my sisters and I have planned for next week. First stop is Lexington, VA to pick up Julie who works at Rockbridge Young Life Camp. I'll spend the night there. Then we head down to sleepy little Ocracoke Island for a few days. We are renting a little villa at the Island Inn for super cheap since it is October. Then we head up to Williamsburg for a few days where Lori goes to school at Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Julie and I are staying at a hotel within walking distance of Colonial Williamsburg. Then, Lori and I are heading up to Homecoming at Messiah College. Yeah!!! I can't wait to tell you all about the trip!
